Salmon Fishing CHINOOK and SILVERS this year.
REPORT UPDATE SEPT.7TH 2008: LOTS OF SILVERS AND KINGS BEING CAUGHT NOW!
We catch 5 different species of salmon during the season, Pink, Sockeye, Silver, King and Chum.
Salmon are very exciting and provide a steady adrenaline rush when the Pink runs are in.
In the past, we have loaded the boat in 30 minutes.
Salmon in general fight like crazy, and only by experience will you know what it's like when the dorsal fin a big King breaks the surface of the open ocean, as you reel and yank on your pole.
Bottom Fishing
Bottom fishing is very exciting and you never know what your going to pull out of the water.
Even non-fish such as sea scallops, sea cucumbers, sea anemones, shipwreck relics and a wide variety of kelp (lots of which are edible), get pulled up from the bottom.
In the San Juan Island waters, several good eating bottom fish will yank your pole, from lingcod to octopus. Imaging pulling up a very heavy line to find out a 4-foot long lingcod has a death grip on the 3-lb. rock fish that bit your hook first!
Your Surroundings
The Pacific Northwest provides you with the some best, most picturesque, scenery in the United States. When we are not totally surrounded by the open ocean you will see all kinds of wildlife lining the shore and swimming effortlessly in the water.
You will see harbor seals, sea lions, otters, bald eagles, hawks, cormorants, a variety of small birds and sometimes even a pod of Orca whales.
The fishing is changing all the time. Please contact Captain Monty by phone for the latest information.
